GREEN CLUB VERDE is on Facebook!
“No individual can entirely determine the architecture of a historical cycle. But much of the next one will be defined by how we grapple with a host of new realities, ones that reach beyond jihadist terrorism. They include globalized markets; the expansion of the information revolution into places like China; the emergence of new world powers including India and China; climate deterioration; failing states; the changing nature of war; mass migrations; the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; viral pandemics; and many more. And the moral obligations of our stewardship of the planet must become paramount” (Gary Hart N.Y. Times June 24, 2008).
STUDENT CLUB MEMBERS
Adán Lozano, President:
I am Communication major and a French minor. As a communication major, I believe that spreading the right message can have a huge impact on the receivers; this club strives to make the people of Brownsville more conscious about environmental matters. To spread a message in order to educate people on these matters is just the first step to achieve a positive result in the long run. Our goal is to reach out to as many people as possible and inform them about the environmental impact they have, in order to make Brownsville hopefully a greener city for the next generation to come.
Marie Romano, Vice-President
I am a Senior at UTB's Math and Science Academy and am interested in studying Translation and Interpreting at University. What's more, I am interested to ensure that we all do our part to preserve the natural environment.
Joel Salinas, Treasurer:
I currently attend the Math and Science Academy at the University of Texas-Brownsville.
Raj Siddique, Secretary:
I first became interested in environmental benefit programs after taking a speech and communications course at UTB. I learned the importance of water, and how modern society is so wasteful of it. Since then, I have tried to do my best to increase the quality of my community, environment, and the lives of people all around me. I am the President of the Junior Auxiliary Department at Valley Regional Medical Center, and I am a full time student at the Mathematics and Science Academy at UTB. I hope to be able to make a large contribution to humanity as a humanitarian physician when I grow up.
